The original company of May & Scofield Inc. was established in Michigan, USA in 1934 by Roy May and H.W. Scofield Sr. as a supplier of metal stampings to the casket industry. In the 1950's it moved into the automotive market and grew through the integration of plastics, decorating and electronics in a variety of interior assemblies.
In 1992, as part of that expansion, it diversified into electrical and electronic systems by acquiring the automotive electronics company Mobelec based in Camberley, UK.
During 1998, to accommodate a significant growth in business, the company moved to larger premises in Basingstoke, Hampshire, UK, where it remains today and has become an established supplier of electronic control modules and systems to the automotive, defence, industrial and rail markets.
May & Scofield Electronics continues to grow as we increase our solid base of blue chip customers, enhance our product designs, offer innovation to the market and maintain our high standards of manufacturing and delivery.
The company is privately owned and is led by our Chairman – Rick Scofield, grandson of the original founder and our Managing Director – Gary James, who has been with the company since its inception in 1992 and has been Managing Director since 2000.
Located in Basingstoke, Hampshire, with excellent transport links to Heathrow Airport and the nearby motorway network of the M3, M4 and M25, our design and manufacturing centre in Basingstoke has the complete set of on-site resources required to produce custom PCB’s and electronic controls for customers in our target sectors of Automotive, Defence, Industrial and Rail.
Having all of the necessary resources on one site allows a close working relationship between our complementary business functions. This greatly helps the efficient development and manufacture of our custom solutions where accountability and ownership is assured in the quality and reliability of our products.
